found its roots in the 19th century by Lady Anna, the seventh Duchess of
Bedford. Lunch in those days were rather early and dinner was not served
until late in the evening.
Every afternoon, the Duchess found that she was slightly famished and
started asking to enjoy a pot of tea with some light refreshments.
